Welcome,

I have created, developed and managed businesses on 3 continents for the past 20 years. I have advised top management and CEOs of companies with dealings in several countries, several cultures. If there is ONE thing I learned from my experience, it is that most problems that plague people and corporations, (but also countries or even the world at large), arise from mental mindsets, our values, what we hold as the most important, and which are usually deeply unconscious.

I am not talking about WHAT we think about (that's content), but HOW we think about it, the container that holds and shapes what we think about, the frames we put around the ideas, the lenses we look through

This is something that people who are in the business of convincing you (politicians, marketers, sales people etc...) study in great depth (and if they don't... well they should!). It's extremely powerful ninja stuff.

So how does it work?

Have you ever taken a test, or assessment to discover who you are, what job best suits you, or which relationships fit you best? Do you know your "type"?

Too many modern assessments and models think in terms of 'types' of people, and put people in boxes: you're an A-type, where you hang in the 4 quadrants, models of personality etc... As much as it is useful to discover certain character traits, those tend to limit us rather than assist us to expand our perception of who we are and how we are "supposed" to behave, because they tend to function deductively (from outside to inside) rather than inductively (from inside to outside).

A much more constructive approach is to think not in terms of 'types' of people but ways of thinking about a thing.

The 'Thinking Styles Spiral' model of change was developed empirically and refined since the 1950s. It focuses not on WHAT people think or believe or their personality type, but HOW they think about what they think about. So, we're not putting people into categories, but we're looking at the lenses they use to look at their work, their relationships, themselves in relation to the environment. It's an inductive model (i.e. the opposite of limiting), because it reflects the increasing level of complexity that a mind is capable of.

Most importantly, it measures whether the mind capacities of a person are suited to their life conditions. When we achieve congruency between the 2, we are in balance. Balance is the ultimate purpose, because when you reach a state of perfect equilibrium... you function perfectly in your world, and... what else do you need?

It also gives a very detailed roadmap of the transitions that we go through during the span of a lifetime. So it's REALLY helpful during transitional times. When life conditions change, we often need to develop new ways to cope with a changed reality, which means essentially, new mind capacities.

This is the basis of the model of change that this assessment describes.

So now tell me: what will I learn?

Here's some of the eye-opener discoveries you will make during the "Thinking Styles" 2-day course:

1. Different ways to think about what we think about.

2. What it is that you hold most important without even knowing it, and that drives all your decisions and actions.

3. The different possible thinking styles and how they best fit certain types of life conditions. What is yours, and how to recognise them in other people.

4. The balance point between life or work conditions and mind capacities, and find out how to recognise the balance point in people (this is really useful when you manage or coach them!)

  • absolutistic: do you think there is a right or wrong way? You may be stationed at DQ.
  • multiplistic: Do you tend to see multiple options then decide which is the best for your outcome? You'll probably test ER positive.
  • relativistic: There's no truth, every idea has its value and none is better than any other, consensus is primordial. You think FS!
  • paradoxical and systemic: Can you comfortably hold in your mind both an idea and its opposite. Do you think in terms of "big system"? High GT.

5. A universal model of Change, which clears up the uncertainties that affect us when we transition from one set of life conditions to another.

6. Learn to recognise transitions from levels to levels in the Model of Change. Have you ever felt that suddenly, for some unknown reasons, you had lost your direction? Do you feel stressed, confused, not quite sure anymore that what you've been doing until now if really what you want to do for the rest of your life? You may very well be transitioning.

7. Learn how to deal with people (colleagues, staff, bosses, partners, students..) more effectively. When you understand where they stand on the 'Thinking Styles Spiral', you know how to speak so they'll listen!

8. Improve your personal relationship as you gain a deep understanding of why people around you behave the way they do. You are able to read what is happening behind their actions, and therefore improve your communication with them. With better communication, comes better understanding and wider acceptance.

By the end of the training:

If you're in HR, you'll have a clear idea about how to deal with staff and why you are encountering obstacles with some of them.

If you're a coach, you'll know how to effectively deal with certain clients you could not previously understand.

If you're a manager, you will understand who to allocate to the jobs for best results.

If you are in recruitment, you'll be able to perfectly match people to their jobs.

If you are in a relationship, you will know how to communicate in a way that promotes win-win situations.

And if you're none of the above, you will have learned SO MUCH about yourself and people around you in the process.

PLUS, you'll get the 3 online assessments worth HKD3,000 absolutely free (if you sign up before the deadline). When you sign up, you'll be given a link to take the 3 assessments, and you'll use your own results as a case study during the week end workshop. So you'll learn about yourself as well as others.

Feedback from participants:

'Since the course I have been seeing so many things that are said and done in terms of people's values. Amazing!!'

'The next day I was looking at everyone completely differently in my office. I have finally understood things about people I work with that I could not understand for years!'

'I used what I learned to recruit a sales manager and it has proved to be the best move I have done in several years.'

'I cannot believe how much these 2 days have changed me. Things that used to bother me so much with my partner now seem totally irrelevant, I understand where he comes from and I appreciate his point of view. This is such a liberating experience! Thank you!'

'The workshop gave me a totally new perspective on how and why people think they way they do.'

'This is fantastically useful if there are people in your life that you can't really understand, to realise what mindset they operate from and how all of this is influenced by their values and the environmental factors they have to deal with. It can bring you closer to people who you may have differeing views from, merely by giving you an understanding of where they are really coming from.'
